Ganna Sorbat’s Projects…

I received a message from my friends about the beginning of combat action on Maidan in Kiev the same evening. It was difficult to imagine such events, because I know that there are my relatives, my friends… It’s terrible!

Ganna also applied to participate in the world famous competition of composers “Hanszimmerwantsyou” in February 2014. This forum is significant because there are many famous composers in the jury such as Hans Zimmer (USA), Lorne Balfe, Junkie XL, Jacob Shea, Russell Emanuel. As a result three winners will have chance to work in the USA League of composers named “Bleeding Fingers”.

We create our history, it’s a pity but a part of this history will have a negative imprint in the memory of our Ukrainian nation.

– Why have you chosen exactly this contest?
– You know, a long time I have dreamt to participate and maybe win a competition like that. This composer’s contest has attracted me with the idea of creating a variation on a theme of one of the music pieces by Hans Zimmer, the world famous composer. And this is the chance for me to be chosen to work with the amazing and genius artists from the USA League of composers named “Bleeding Fingers”.

– What was your inspiration before you start to create your own variant on a Hans Zimmer’s theme?
– When I got to know about competition I immered myself in work in order to create the best result. And I received a message from my friends about the beginning of combat action on Maidan in Kiev the same evening. It was difficult to imagine such events, because I know that there are my relatives, my friends… It’s terrible! I wish peace will come and everyone can find the way for mutual understanding and harmony not only in our country but also in other countries with similar situation. We create our history, it’s a pity but a part of this history will have a negative imprint in the memory of our Ukrainian nation. The composition “Through the thorns to the stars” sent by me to the competition I dedicate to Ukraine with the love and belief in triumph of the Light over the Darkness.

In addition Ganna records soundtracks and new music at the studio virtually every day.

– How often does new music come to you, and what is the highlight in your music world? And how does it work when you start to compose?
– There is no difference for me what day of the week or holiday is it if the inspiration has come. I sit down to piano and until I finish a composition I never stand up… Sometimes it takes me hours to complete a composition depending on volume, content etc. and depending on degree to which the musical idea is opened for me. Other times I can sweat over my composition for two days to give birth to perfect music. It is like creating a cut diamond from some rock and then the miracle occurs.
This process is not unique because all creators (painters, writers and musicians) seem to work like this. I am infinitely grateful to God for He inspired me with my musical gift. And my obligation is to serve people by this gift notably to cure human souls with the healing power of music and light the heart with love.

Well, we wish our talented compatriot good luck in her composing. And we are looking forward to Ganna’s first musical album, which she is recording at the moment.
